We had a great week here at the Pathologically Literate household; how about you? We started a new book for Read-Aloud time, To Kill a Mockingbird. The Boy made big noises about how boring it was going to be, but was then immediately transfixed by it as I began reading. That’s the way it always … Continue reading Weekly Review: Sunday, July 20, 2014

It was a slow week here at the Pathologically Literate household; much reading of books took place. The Boy spent the weekend in Iowa at Grandma Choo-Choo’s house, so I got to have a little bit of very rare alone time – which of course was mostly spent reading in bed. Let’s take a look … Continue reading Weekly Review: Sunday, July 13, 2014

Oh, y’all, the 4th of July weekend is OVER – thank you, sweet baby Jesus! I know I’ve complained about my dislike of this holiday already, but this year was particularly bad with the fireworks in our neighborhood – I was sure someone was going to get killed or that a house or two was … Continue reading Weekly Review: Sunday, July 6, 2014

So, so sorry for the late post, y’all, but I’ve been reading non-stop the last couple of days and have put off all of my regular tasks. For shame, for shame! But I found some mad good books and I just can’t put them down! So for now let’s take a look at how the … Continue reading Weekly Review: Sunday, June 29, 2014

Whew! Well, I believe Mother Nature knew the first official day of Summer was coming up this weekend because we have had some scorching hot days this week! Now, I am not a fan of hot weather or Summer in general and this week did nothing to endear me to the season. We have, however, … Continue reading Weekly Review: Sunday, June 22, 2014

Summer is coming into full swing, y’all, and The Boy sure knows it! He spent some time at the swimming pool this week and came home with the Sunburn from Hell. I put Poppie in charge of the sunscreen and unfortunately he did not acquire that of the waterproof variety… thus The Boy resembled a … Continue reading Weekly Review: Sunday, June 15, 2014

We’ve made it through Week One of the summer and it was a doozy, I will tell you what. The Boy had a sleepover on Monday night that turned into a weeklong ordeal that didn’t end until Friday evening. Yes, y’all – it was a Four. Night. Long. Sleepover. Five days, if you count the … Continue reading Weekly Review: Sunday, June 8, 2014

All right, y’all, Summer is officially here! Well, I suppose according to the calendar, it’s not officially officially here, but we’re not going to get all technical here. June 1st is close enough for me. It is hard for me to believe how quickly this year is passing. We’re planning to do some part-time homeschooling … Continue reading Weekly Review: Sunday, June 1, 2014

Here we are, y’all, nearly at the end of May already – can you believe it? Already nearly halfway through 2014 – that’s crazy! There’s so much I’d planned to do this year that I haven’t done yet; I suppose I’d better get my bum in gear. One thing I haven’t been slacking on is … Continue reading Weekly Review: Sunday, May 25, 2014

Y’all, my baby is growing up! The Boy will be thirteen this week; I can’t even believe it’s true. We were at the doctor the other day and there was a tiny little baby there that looked almost just like The Boy did when he was a wee one, and it brought tears to my … Continue reading Weekly Review: May 4, 2014

Olive Kitteridge is back, and while she is as cantankerous as ever, she has grown - and continues to grow - by leaps and bounds as she slips over into old age. I adored Olive in her first book, and she held a special place in my heart this time as well. So many aspects of this novel resonated with me, brought me to tears - and nearly to my knees - with shared grief at times - while one page later, I was chuckling at Elizabeth Strout’s wry humor as she breathed yet more life into the obstreperous and wickedly bright Olive. I wanted to hug this book to me for hours, so sorry was I to let it go as it ended. ⁣ ⁣ #oliveagain #olivekitteridge #crosbymaine #elizabethstrout ⁣ #netgalley #randomhouse #pathologicallyliterate #TBCreads ⁣ ⁣ #bookstagram #bookpic #booklist #bookish #booknerd #bookworm #booklover #bibliophile #readersareleaders #happyreading #readersofinstagram #booksofinstagram #igreads #instabooks #idratherbereading #wndb
It’s that time again, friends - the November 2019 Bookish Roundup!! ⁣ ⁣ 📚 Total books read: 6.5⁣ 📚 Total pages read: 2,429⁣ 📚 Total hours read: 32 hours, 33 minutes⁣ 📚 DNF Total: 1 book⁣ ⁣ November was a seriously hectic month for me and I was so disappointed that I didn’t have nearly enough time to read as I usually try to carve out. Thus, my stats for the month are a bit dismal (compared to past months, anyway. Remember - everyone is different!!). ⁣ I’m hopeful, however, that things will be looking up for my reading life in December. Fingers crossed, y’all!! 🤞 ⁣ ⁣ #november #2019 #bookishroundup #pathologicallyliterate #TBCreads ⁣ ⁣ #bookstagram #bookpic #booklist #bookish #booknerd #bookworm #booklover #bibliophile #readersareleaders #happyreading #readersofinstagram #booksofinstagram #igreads #instabooks #idratherbereading #wndb
All-American Muslim Girl by @nadinejoliecourtney is one of the most engaging and most edifying YA tales about race and religion that I’ve come across. Definitely an important book for all YA readers - young and old alike - to pick up. ⁣ ⁣ #allamericanmuslimgirl #nadinejoliecourtney #weneeddiversebooks #diversebooksmatter #nevertoooldforya #pathologicallyliterate #TBCreads ⁣ ⁣ #bookstagram #bookpic #booklist #bookish #booknerd #bookworm #booklover #bibliophile #readersareleaders #happyreading #readersofinstagram #booksofinstagram #igreads #instabooks #idratherbereading #wndb
Inspired by @howjessreads ⁣ “How many book apps is too many book apps?” ⁣ I fear I might have hit the limit, as this pic doesn’t even include @getlitsy, @audible, or BookMyne...⁣ ⁣ #bookapps #overboard #organizedaf #pathologicallyliterate #TBCreads ⁣ ⁣ #bookstagram #bookish #booknerd #bookworm #booklover #bibliophile #readersareleaders #happyreading #readersofinstagram #booksofinstagram #igreads #instabooks #idratherbereading #wndb
Reading The Words Between Us was a trip down memory lane, as MC Robin waded her way through stacks of books from her past - and my own, as well. Part romance, part coming of age, and even part mystery, this dual-timeline love story to books is a melting pot of genres. Unfortunately, that didn’t work out quite so well, as I felt tugged in multiple directions throughout the book. Ultimately, however, I enjoyed the novel and look forward to reading Bartels’s other 2019 release, We Hope For Better Things. ⁣ ⁣ #thewordsbetweenus #erinbartels #wehopeforbetterthings #booksaremylovelanguage #pathologicallyliterate #TBCreads ⁣ ⁣ #bookstagram #bookpic #booklist #bookish #booknerd #bookworm #booklover #bibliophile #readersareleaders #happyreading #readersofinstagram #booksofinstagram #igreads #instabooks #idratherbereading #wndb
