That’s my little Ruby up there – isn’t she a smoochie cutie?! And I’m not kidding, y’all – Best. Dog. Ever. She was born potty-trained and behaves like the valedictorian of an obedience school (even though she’s never been to one). Shelties are one of the best breeds you can get for a family dog, by the way – but there’s no way any of you would ever find one as fantabulous as my Ruby. Sorry. That’s just the way it is. Anyway. Just wanted to share a little part of our Pathologically Literate family with you! It was a great week of reading for me, I will tell you what. Amazingly, even with homeschooling, I was able to get through several books. The best part – almost every single one was absolutely awesome! I love it when I hit a good streak like that. Let’s take a look at the week:
Books I read this week:
- The Hypnotist’s Love Story by Liane Moriarty
- The Collector of Dying Breaths {Reincarnationist, #6} by M.J. Rose
- The Outcast Dead {Ruth Galloway, #6} by Ely Griffiths
- The Weight of Blood by Laura McHugh
- The Free by Willie Vlautin
- Orphan Train: A Novel by Christine Baker Kline
Book I’m currently reading:
- Boy, Snow, Bird: A Novel by Helen Oyeyemi

- Review: The Collector of Dying Breaths by M.J. Rose
- …and more!
Oh, y’all, where do I begin? The Collector of Dying Breaths is an amazing read, and I’m reviewing it later this week, so that’s all I’ll say about that. Ely Griffiths did not let me down with The Outcast Dead, part of the Ruth Galloway series that I started following last year. The Weight of Blood, a debut novel by Laura McHugh, was absolutely captivating! Really, really good stuff. I look forward to reading more of her work. Willie Vlautin’s The Free totally lived up to all the hype – it was a very deep and moving novel. The Orphan Train – oh, The Orphan Train! I so loved this book. An absolutely charming novel about a present-day orphan teaming up with an elderly woman who was also an orphaned child and discovering that there is more to life than they had previously believed. Loved it, loved it, loved it. Any of these books would be a great read for you to look into for this week, or any other week, for that matter. Take note, my friends – you’ll be missing out big time if you don’t.
What did you read this week?

Sounds like you’ve had a great reading week! A friend is lending me The Free, so I get to read it and not break my rules. Happy days. That is one gorgeous dog….
Oh, good! So glad you’ll have a chance to read it!
