Library Love is a recurring post in which I share each week’s bounty from the public library.
Oh, y’all, I pulled the big haul for my Thanksgiving read-a-thon! I got some great books, and I’m so excited! Obviously I won’t get them all read on Thanksgiving Day, but The Boy is gone for the next three days and I’ve got the next couple of weeks to read them, and read them I will – I have been waiting for some of these titles for quite some time now, and my time has finally come! Let’s take a look at what I’ve got:
- Gods in Alabama by Joshilyn Jackson
- Someone Else’s Love Story by Joshilyn Jackson
- Stella Bain by Anita Shreve
- Dust {Kay Scarpetta #21} by Patricia Cornwell
- The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt
- Mrs. Lincoln’s Dressmaker by Jennifer Chiaverini
- Nowhere is a Place by Bernice McFadden
- After Dead: What Came Next in the World of Sookie Stackhouse by Charlaine Harris
- The Circle by Dave Eggers
- Rachael Ray’s Look + Cook by Rachael Ray
I’ve wanted to read Mrs. Lincoln’s Dressmaker fo-eva – but particularly since reading The Spymistress by the same author. I’m not usually too turned on by the whole historical fiction genre, but I think Jennifer Chiavereni might be changing my mind. Gods in Alabama has been on my To-Read list for absolutely ages, so it’s high time I get to reading it. I’m so excited to read another of my guilty pleasure series, the Kay Scarpetta series, with Dust by Patricia Cornwell. The series had gotten fairly dull for a few years but the last three novels have definitely kept me on my toes. Stella Bain and particularly The Goldfinch both have me intrigued, so I’m anxious to delve into those two to see what I find, and I’m hopeful that the positive chatter I’ve been hearing about Nowhere is a Place holds muster… Another Joshilyn Jackson novel I’ve been waiting for – Someone Else’s Love Story – is finally available; can’t wait to get into that one. Oh, oh, oh – After Dead! After the huge let-down of Harris’s finale to the Sookie Stackhouse series, I’m hoping there will be some redeemable material in this one… I’ve been looking forward to reading The Circle – although it looks to be a bit different than Dave Eggers’ usual fare. I used to have an unhealthy obsession with Rachael Ray and her 30-Minute Meals, and I just couldn’t resist checking out this cookbook – I’m hoping to find some new recipes to add to my repertoire! As you can see, we’re all set here at the Pathologically Literate Household as far as our Thanksgiving reading material goes. What are you planning to read?
